After 13 years of commercial service, the local operator Aps Holding SPA decided to reinforce its Translohr fleet in anticipation of the opening of the SIR 3 line.  NTL entrusted COMECA with the overhaul of the on-board air conditioning, ventilation and heating systems.

In 2007, the city of Padoue put into service 16 STE 3 trams designed by NTL (New Translohr), a company based near Strasbourg. At present the city's only tram line, SIR 1, is used by more than 22,000 passengers per day. The creation of 2 new lines (SIR3 and SIR2) is planned.

On-board HVAC systems upgrade by Comeca

The Comeca site located in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, near Lyon in France, with its experience in on-board HVAC systems for the railway market, has been able to develop an offer for modernisation and upgrading of the original HVAC systems for several years. A dedicated production line on this site allows us to carry out these upgrades of railway air conditioning systems, regardless of the original manufacturer. In total, 58 carriage air conditioners and 58 cabin air conditioners will be refurbished by Comeca on this project.

After undergoing a proving test to confirm the level of upgrade required, the air conditioning unit will undergo the appropriate upgrade until a final serial test (identical to the proving test) before being released for return to our customer.

Our project team must also ensure that the Document, Security and Traceability aspects are perfectly taken into account in agreement with our client and their customer, whilst respecting the rules and good practices of the Railway market.
