Comeca's automation and industrial IT unit awarded a certification
IS2I in Chatenoy-le-Royal, which became Comeca France almost a year ago, decided in 2015 to apply for MASE certification. MASE, as a well-established standard, equips companies with the methodology and resources necessary to proficiently manage their HSE approach by employing performance monitoring and embracing a culture of continuous improvement.
MASE is one of the only systems that measures its effectiveness through six-monthly monitoring. It is perfectly suited to small and medium-sized businesses in particular. The association fosters exchanges between user companies and contractors to constantly improve results (accidentology, for example).
Within MASE, there is a strong emphasis placed on prevention and cultivating employee awareness regarding occupational risks. Conducting an audit to evaluate the safety culture of employees serves as a pivotal component, as it unveils the level of maturity in the company's HSE approach.
We wanted to set up a real safety management system within our entity (regulatory compliance, implementation of preventive and corrective actions, monitoring of equipment and PPE, continuous improvement, etc.). ) and to meet the growing demand from our major customers (ARCELOR MITTAL in Fos sur Mer, INDUSTEEL in Le Creusot, APERAM in Imphy, etc.), who prefer suppliers with this certification, which is widely recognised in the chemical and petrochemical industries. MASE is also an important asset, a guarantee of quality and rigour, when positioning ourselves with new customers. We have set up an HSE Steering Committee to work together on all the points of the standards and to meet the expectations of this highly complex system as effectively as possible.
After joining the MASE association at the end of 2015, we had 18 months from that date to complete the certification audit. In February 2017, we carried out our 1st blank audit, which proved unsuccessful due to a lack of maturity in our system, and we had to temporarily leave the association while maintaining our in-house approach. In June 2018, we carried out our 2nd blank audit, which demonstrated a significant improvement in our system and enabled us to rejoin the association in August 2018.
On 04 December 2018, after the official audit and 3 years of effort, we obtained our first certification for a period of one year. Throughout 2019, we continued to improve our system and at the end of November 2019 our certification was renewed for a period of 3 years.
